Traveling with your pet

  • Dogs an cats withing Europe

You  need to have an European passport (with electronic identification of your animal)  + vaccination against rabies (at least 1 month before departure). Some countries ask for deworming at least 24h before departure. An healthcertificate is no more needed  inside Europe.

Be carefull for the new arangement for the rabies vaccin: If you are getting a pup/kitten outside of Belgium he has to be vaccinated against rabies. Considering that the vaccin can be injected only from the age of 12 weeks and that after de primovaccination it needs a processing period of 21 days. These animals can only enter Belgium at the age of 16 weeks. This dessision is dramatic for there education, thats why we recomand to take a dog/kitten in belgium at the age of 8 weeks so they can actively socialise.

Since we are licensed veterinarians, we have a legal duty to notify the FASFC when adopting a dog/kitten that is not right with this legislation.
